Cam Abbott (they/he)
Strategist | Advocate | Survivor
I am a strategist, researcher, and mental health advocate dedicated to rethinking and rebuilding mental healthcare.
With a background in business strategy and lived experience navigating the mental health system as a transmasc person with bipolar disorder, I work at the intersection of research, advocacy, and systemic transformation.
I earned my Business Administration degree from UNC-Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, specializing in global business communication and strategy. Over the years, I’ve consulted for leading organizations in government and healthcare—including my work at Ernst & Young (EY), where I apply strategic frameworks to drive meaningful, lasting change.
But beyond the corporate world, my work is deeply personal.
I didn’t just study the system—I survived it.
I know what it’s like to be a patient trapped in bureaucracy, to fight for autonomy in a system that strips it away, and to search for care that truly understands the complexity of mental health.
These experiences shaped my mission:

My Mission:
To redesign mental healthcare with lived experience at the center—ensuring patients have the tools, knowledge, and autonomy they need to navigate care on their terms.
I believe in breaking down barriers—whether that’s the stigma of mental illness, systemic failures in healthcare, or the lack of trauma-informed care.
I believe in self-advocacy, autonomy, and systemic change.
I believe survival isn’t enough—it’s time to rebuild and reclaim.
Me & My Art
Apart from my professional life, I’m a gender-nonconforming radical thinker and artist. My work, my identity, and my experiences are all intertwined—pushing back, questioning, creating.
Here are some photos of me and my art—just a glimpse into my journey, my expression, and the ways I make sense of the world.
